MORAINE, OH
The city of Moraine, OH, is located in Montgomery County, just south of Dayton along Interstate 75 and the Great Miami River. It’s part of the Dayton metropolitan area covering 9.2 square miles of land, home to a population of almost 6,500 people under the motto, “Progress Through Unity.”
The area that’s now Moraine began as a section of Van Buren Township before becoming part of neighboring Kettering. Residents seceded from Kettering in 1953 to form the new Moraine Township, then incorporated as a municipality in 1957. Moraine is known for its manufacturing history, producing aircraft, appliances and automobiles throughout the 20th century for a combined total of 86 years. Moraine today maintains a strong parks department that oversees an indoor recreation center, a civic center, bike trails and several small neighborhood parks. Moraine is also known for its established neighborhood eateries.
